Photos by Steve (my very talented photographer husband)

Steve took some incredible photos of the kids for Christmas that I wanted to share with you.  You've probably already seen some of these, either from Facebook or from our Christmas cards, but there were just so many more great photos of the kids so I thought you'd want to see them all!  :)

Yesterday Benjamin and I went "sledding" in our back yard and had a blast!  So much fun!  We got 4 more inches of snow yesterday (it snowed all day long) and woke up to two more inches this morning!  Enjoy the pictures...

Christmas-time

We all enjoyed a very, merry Christmas at home this year and it was extra cozy because of the massive amounts of snow we received just in time for Christmas!  At the moment we have snow piled up to the top of our mailbox and are expecting more this weekend - craziness!  But we are loving it (maybe not Steve so much anymore, as his back's about to break from all the shoveling).  Benjamin loves the snow but Gracie not so much as she gets cold quickly.  We've been busy sledding, building snowmen, making snow angels (or atleast attempting to), and just playing around in the white winterland.

This entire Christmas season has been wonderful as I really feel our family unit come into its own this year as we discover and begin our own family traditions.  I think it takes a couple years for it to take shape and this year I can defintely see that it's taking form - and I love it!  It's been so much fun baking with Benjamin and discovering what Christmas treat will be our family tradition for the years to come.  Can you guess what it is???  Chocolate covered pretzels - so yummy!  And maybe some peppermint bark too.  :)

From finding our new favorite Christmas music, David Crowders Band "Oh for Joy", to reading "The Night Before Christmas" to the kids on Christmas Eve before bed.  Now that the kids are a little bit older it has gotten so much fun to watch their excitement and anticipation for Christmas day to come and when the joyful morning finally did arrive it was downright perfect!  I hope you also had a very merry Christmas this year and may you have a Happy New Year too!

Here are some pics.  The ones of Gracie wearing the Indian headband we made are from Thanksgiving...  I will post some more Christmas pics that Steve took in my next post - they are AMAZING!

Two Little Monkeys...

Our little monkeys had such a fun time getting loads of candy this Halloween!  They were so cute in their matching costumes, Grace originally was going to be a doggie (last two pics in the album), but I couldn't resist dressing them in the same costume!  :)

An Anniversary Surprise

We are now four years happily married!  Wow!  Steve planned a very special getaway to celebrate our anniversary on an island at a cozy little cottage on the waters of Lake Ontatrio.  It was awonderful surprise, as he kept the whole getaway a secret, and he did very well!  I love you bunnies!  And here's to another four decades!  Mwah!

Here's a few pics: https://picasaweb.google.com/109422547282724009386/AnniversaryGetaway?authkey=Gv1sRgCJCSlpvNvtPlgwE
PS:  A special thanks to my mom for watching the kids so we could get away!  :)

The Glory of Autumn

Autumn is hands down the most beautiful season out of the four.  At least it is for those who live in the north.  :)  Watching the leaves turn from green into the most bright and vivid colors imaginable is nothing short of spectacular!  I've been pondering something regarding fall for a few weeks now and so I thought I'd share it with you.  It really spoke to my heart and I hope it speaks to yours as well.

It started with a conversation I had with my Grandma Edie.  We were talking about the weather and how autumn was just arriving.  As I told her that the leaves up here in NNY were just starting to turn colors and how beautiful it was, she told me that, unfortunately, that wasn't the case for her this year out in Colorado.  With not enough rainfall this summer, they had suffered a drought.  She told me how the leaves on the Heavenly Maple tree in her yard didn't turn any colors!  Instead, her beloved trees leaves just fell to the ground when the weather got cooler and shriveled up on the grass colorless.  She explained to me how disappointing it was to not get to watch one of her favorite trees display it's brilliant colors this fall.  The only thing it left her with was a bunch of ugly dead leaves on the ground to be raked up!  When she told me this I understood her disappointment.  How sad to not be able to enjoy something so lovely as a maple tree at the peak of its glory.
After that conversation with my grandma it got me to thinking.  It dawned on me just how much we as individuals are like that tree.  If we don't get enough water we too will have leaves that, instead of displaying all their splendor and beauty when the season changes, will fall to the ground unchanged to dry out.  Do you see a parallel too?   I really felt the Holy Spirit showed me this truth, so simple, and yet it has been so profound to me.  If we as Christians don't receive enough of God -- the watering of being in His Word, the refreshment of being in His presence and a daily awareness of our need for the cleansing power of Jesus' blood -- then we too might miss out on the beauty God has in store for us.  It is so important, crucial really, that we get enough water!

I also thought of how sad and disappointing it must be for God to miss out on watching His "trees" display their beauty the way God intended them to, just as it was sad and disappointing for my grandma to watch her maple tree.  Surely we grieve God when we don't live our life to the fullness and richness that only He can offer.  But as God always does, He doesn't let it end there.  Nope.  He doesn't let us feel awful about screwing up or making some bad choices.  Nope, not our God.  Instead, He gives us another chance.  He brings us into a new season and reminds us that there will be another autumn.  That there is hope.  And there is always a better future.  It's like when my grandma told me that the tree itself was not dead, so there's always the hope that next year will be different, that it will be the way it's intended to be -- a beautiful tree in the fullness of its glory, just the way God created it to be.  And so it is with us.

October Baby

October Baby -
        By: Eric Wilson

What a movie.  Seriously, I hope every single person who reads this post will please go rent this movie!  The story, the message, the intensity - amazing.  Prepare to bawl your eyes out, so grab your tissues!  I think that after watching this movie anyone who was pro-choice before it will seriously question that belief.  It's a powerful film with a beautiful message....  Life. Is. Precious.

Grammy's Visit

My mom came up for a week long visit in early October and it was the best!  One week was too short and we all miss her terribly.  :(  The kids want Grammy to come back and so do I!!!  We had a great time together doing lots of fun things together.  A trip to the apple orchard, pumpkin patch, the fall festival at the library, and let's not forget the 24-hour "Grammy Day" the kids got to have while Steve and I headed out for an early anniversary celebration!  It was a fabulous time had by all, except for saying good bye.  It's a hard life living so far away from family.....  Here's some pictures of our time together:

The Duggars

A Love That Multiplies: An Up-Close View of How They Make it Work
You probably already know how much I LOVE this family!  After reading their second book I fell even more in love with them.  I respect, admire and agree with everything they believe and stand for.  I have found their strong convictions on many different topics to be full of wisdom and based in God's truth.  What touches me the most about them is their ability to live an UNCOMPROMISING life, and live it with so much love and joy!  Their high standards have challenged me and I am so thankful for that.  They are a light on hill and they shine ever so brightly.  I thank God for them and their Godly example!

I heard this song today for the first time and it really touched a place deep in my soul.  I hope it does the same for you too.

Ghiringhelli Boys Weekend

A very special boys weekend was had this weekend when Dan and Jaden came up for an impromptu visit.  It was really great to have them here with us and to see the cousins get a chance to bond with eachother a bit more.  Benjamin really looks up to his big cousin Jaden!  Uncle Danny brought a BB gun with him and so all the boys had loads of fun shooting targets in the backyard.  We also rented a canoe and the boys took a long outing on it in the Black River, the river behind our house.  It was a gorgeous fall weekend with the cool, crisp air to top it all off!  A great time was had by all and we hope it becomes a tradition!  :)

The Morley's Visit

Not too long ago we had the pleasure of my cousin Syra and her family visiting us for a weekend.  It was a wonderful time of meeting eachothers kids for the first time and hanging out!  Benjamin and Gracie were obsessed with "Baby Maddie" and loved having a baby in their home.  :)  All weekend long Grace continued to repeat her favorite phrase of, "Hi baby!" over and over again - it was so cute!  Madison is such a sweet and happy little girl and I'm so glad I got to meet her and spend time with some of my favorite Coloradoans!  Thanks for stopping by Syra and Jay, you are a precious family and we hope to see you soon (perhaps next time in Colorado)!  Check out a few photos from their visit below:

Blue Like Jazz

Blue Like Jazz: The Movie
I've just got to recommend this movie to everyone!  After Steve and I watched it this past weekend we both were just blown away with how good it was.  The ending is especially powerful, and will touch the hearts of both Christians and non-christians alike, as anyone can resonate with the message this story tells.

Toronto Trip!

Gracie and I drove to Toronto with my dear friend Tina, in her new ride, to stay with another dear friend, Bec, for a girl's only weekend!  It was really great to be with my girls and have some girl time together.  :)  It was my first time in Toronto, so that was a lot of fun!  I love the city and Toronto is one beautiful city - so much fun!  Thanks girls for a memorable weekend.  And thanks Gracie for being such a doll!  Click on the link below for some photos...

Chugga, Chugga, Choo-choo!!!

Benjamin turned three this week and I can hardly believe it.  This year I let him choose between a tractor/truck cake and a train cake, and as you can see he opted for the train.  Oh, and chocolate cake was a definite must as well!  We started the day off with some birthday cake for breakfast (hey, there's nothing wrong with having cake for breakfast one day out of the year, right?) and since he spotted it hiding in the oven first thing that morning I couldn't make my little boy wait after hearing and seeing his excitement at the cake he'd been waiting days to finally see!  Then one of his favorite buddies came over to play with him for the morning.  More cake was eaten after lunch and then the day continued as normal with lots of presents given throughout, the best was saved for last - the coolest Thomas the train toy ever seen.  It was a special day for a very special little boy!  Since we celebrated his birthday with Steve's family on our trip, having a big party with two of his cousins, there was no need really to give him another party at home.

Benjamin continues to melt my heart multiple times a day with his sweet affection, innocent smiles, and deep, all-knowing eyes.  He's an old soul with a tender heart.  Unlike his sister, he's reserved in his affections for others, shy at first, however once he's opened up, you discover the most animated and expressive, goofy little boy ever!  Oh, and he's incredibly smart too (and no I am not being biased at all)!  Warning however: Brag Alert about to begin.  :)  My little boy can sing his ABC's nearly perfectly, count from 1-20, and is an absolute genius at puzzles.  Seriously it is amazing what this kid can do when you hand him a 24 piece jig-saw puzzle that he's never seen before and after 5-10 minutes he has mastered it on his own.  I think the word I'm looking for right now is..... BRILLIANT!  His favorite things at the moment are trains (obviously), play-doh, legos and Curious George.

Benjamin looks out for his little sister Gracie and instead of tattling on her, he has now taken it into his own hands to simply tell her "no" on my behalf.  It is so funny and so cute to watch the love/hate relationship between them go back and forth.  Lately however it has been more love than hate, which is always good for this mommas heart.  Lot's of hugs and kisses.  Even more giggles and sqeals of joy.  And let's not forget the screaming matches they like to have with eachother just for fun!  My oh my, I am so very blessed to have a sweetheart like Benjamin as my little guy - I love you buddy!

Flowers here and there...

It's no secret that I'm not much of a gardener.  Mainly because I've never had the opportunity to garden until now because of becoming a home owner.  Immediately after buying our house I began imagining the beautiful flower gardens in the front yard, and even a patch of earth in the backyard for a vegetable garden, that I would plant this spring and summer.  And then reality sunk in.  With two young toddlers at home to take care of all day long, this stay at home mom would have to wait another year or two for my gardening aspirations to begin!  :)  A little sad that my time for gardening hasn't yet quite arrived, I realized that it's something for me to ease into anyway.  Having never gardened in my life, this is a whole new world for me and I have a lot to learn.  Thank goodness for all the information that can be found on the internet!

So, I started small.  Steve gave me a hanging flower plant on Mother's Day for our front porch, which is beautiful and unlike any other I've ever seen.  The women's group I go to from church helped out too because at the last meeting of the year they gave all of us a couple of flowers to plant.  Then there are the flowers that were already here when we moved in; a beautiful, white rose bush as well as some other plants/flowers that I haven't yet figured out what they are.  One of which I didn't get a photo of because just as quickly as the flowers bloomed, they also disappeared just as fast.  And what a shame because these flowers were magnificent!  Of course, we have some wild flowers as well, back in the woods.  Last, but not least, I decided I atleast needed to grow some tomatoes in honor of
the veggie garden that had to wait.  Instead of planting my tomato plant in a traditional way (ie: the ground or in a pot), I bought a Topsy Turvey upside down planter.  It's an experiment and it will be fun to see if it actually works!

So, there you have it.  Click on the link below to have yourself a look at some of the flowers I've been trying to keep alive!  I must say that I really do love nature and watching these flowers grow is bringing me so much pleasure.  :)

Happy Daddy's Day!

Here are some pictures from Father's Day. We all had a really great day celebrating Steve and the wonderful daddy he is to our little bambinos! We decided to check out Westcott Beach on that beautiful day and we all had a blast there! I wish we would have known of this place earlier because it's stunning and the perfect place to bring the family for the day. Next time we'll pack the swim suits - HA! Since we didn't know what to expect on our first visit, we figured we'd just splash around in the water for a few minutes with the kids and then head out, but we stayed for quite a bit and could have stayed much longer! :)

From Pools to Pigtails!

The weather was warm and beautiful a few weeks ago (unfortunately that hasn't been the case recently but hopefully the warm sun will return to us again one of these days) and so we got the kids their first kiddie pool for some fun in the sun. There is something so incredibly cute about little ones in their tiny swimsuits, splashing around in the water!  Benjamin, who is especially fond of tigers, is thrilled to have a tiger pool, just in case you were wondering.  :)  Today I had the joy of pulling my little Grace Willow hair back into her first ever ponytail and pigtails!  I have been looking forward to this moment for a long, long time.  With her tight and tiny little curls it has been an especially long wait, but it has certainly been worth it!  Here are the cutie pies......

The Ultimate Daniel Fast

In my quest to get more healthy and get out of the rut I have found myself in with craving and eating unhealthy foods I decided it was time for a detox.  I needed a plan to jump start my eating habits into what they used to be - better and healthier!  So, I immediately thought of the Daniel Fast.  When I 've done this fast in the past my body always felt amazing afterwards from the detox it got and so I've decided it was a good choice as a "diet".  Therefore I honestly admit to you that this fast wasn't spiritually inspired this time around, atleast I don't think so... you never know for sure with God though!  Sometimes He has plans for you that you never saw coming, leading you unknowingly into a certain place for a special reason....  And as I am writing this I am discovering that this actually is the case with me right now!  Wow.  Isn't it awesome when God blind sides you like that?!  So. cool.  Anyway all of that to say that in the beginning  of this fast my motivation was purely "natural", even though it seems that God has other intentions!  :)

So, my reason for sharing all this with you is because I have found a wonderful source of information about doing a Daniel Fast and it has made this journey so much fun for me!  And a lot easier too. Perhaps you are contemplating doing this fast sometime soon or down the road in the future.  If you are I am certain you will greatly enjoy the following blog as it has been an awesome resource for me!  Check out "The Ultimate Daniel Fast" blog to find really yummy recipes.

http://www.ultimatedanielfast.com/2010/12/ultimate-guide-to-daniel-fast-by.html

Some of my favorite's so far have been:

- Pesto whole wheat pasta with grilled veggies
- Vegetable Green Curry with coconut milk
- Date honey (so yummy)
- Gimme More Granola
- Coconut Rice with sweet potatoes

Seriously, all of this stuff has been delicious and it sure beats falling in the Daniel fast "rut" of only eating peanut butter and bananas every day!

Outnumbered

Okay, so I just have to share my latest find with you!  As I was flipping channels one night I came across this show on PBS called "Outnumbered" and I was instantly hooked.  It's a British sitcom (I don't know why but I've always been a sucker for british sitcoms) about the typical, crazy family of five and it's brilliant!  I seriously cannot get enough of this show, it is sooooooo funny!  I read that it's part improv, probably because the two youngest kids are so little, and I think it's already in it's 6th season?  I'm not sure.  Thanks to the internet I've been able to watch the first 6 episodes of the first season for free, but after that you either have to have a Hulu or Netflix account (I don't have either) to keep watching.  I think I'm going to have to get one of these accounts, so I can keep watching because I'm hooked already and I'm dying to watch the next episode!  :)  Once a weeknight on PBS just isn't going to cut it when you know you have multiple seasons to catch up on.  Anyway, you should definitely check it out if you're looking for a good laugh and a new series to watch that's worth investing your time into.

Here's a little taste of what we've been up to lately!  This past week has been a fun-filled one with the visit of my 11 year old niece (soon to be 12  year old) Allison.  It was a blast having her here with us!  What a sweetheart she is....she has always and will always hold a special place in my heart.  :)  We already miss you "Aunt Ally"!!!  Come back soon.

I'll post pictures soon too.

The Message

I have been wanting to read "The Message" translation of the Bible for years now and just haven't gotten around to it.  That is until now.  The timing to start reading through the Bible again just seems right for me (when is there ever a wrong time?) and so this time around I'm going to read the Message. Everytime I've heard this translation in Scripture I've always been "wowed" by how it's written.  It's so fresh and alive!  In reading the preface and introduction to the Message, the author, Eugene H. Peterson, says this, "You are going to come across words and sentences that stab you awake to a beauty and hope that will connect you with your real life."  Sounds good to me!  Previously he writes of a common problem among Christians and says, "Many others had spent years reading it (Bible) but for them it had gone flat through familiararity, reduced to cliches.  Bored, they dropped it (Bible)."  How true this is or can become for us, right?

So, I've chosen a Bible reading plan that will have me reading the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs (twice) from now until the end of this year.  Is anyone up to join me?  It only means reading two chapters a day, one from the New Testament and one from either Psalms or Proverbs.  I'm going to get started on May 1st.  Sometimes it's easier to stick with a plan when you're in it together with someone and have that accountability keeping you on track....  Email me or write a comment if you want to do this thing with me!  :)

Wonderfulness

It's been over a month now that I signed off from Facebook and I can honestly tell you that I've never looked back!  Before I left I thought I might miss it some or be tempted a little bit to take a quick peek, but thankfully that has not been the case.  Truthfully I don't know how I ever had all the time I spent on Facebook.  My life has been as busy as ever since "leaving" (the good kind of busy I might add), but now I don't have that pull of FB nagging at me.  It really is wonderfulness!  It's been very freeing to not be wrapped up in it all.  I say all this not to brag on myself or to make anyone feel guilty.  That's not my intentions at all.  I bring it up because many people have asked me out of curiousity how it's been for me since leaving Facebook, so I just thought I'd let you all know.  For me life is richer, fuller, less stressful and anxious, less pre-occupied with "stuff", more focused and engaged in the actual people around me (not just my immediate family, but neighbors and friends), and the list could go on!  So there you have it.  And don't think it's not a sacrifice for me because it is!  I also have friends and family all over the world on Facebook, which is the biggest reason why I've heard people say they could never get off of it, and of course it's nice to stay connected with those people who are so far away from you.

However, don't be surprised when you see me back on there when my children become teenagers - I will be spying on them like a hawk!!!

Breaking Free

Breaking Free: Discover the Victory of Total Surrender [Book]
I recenty finished a 10 week Bible study (although it took me about 15 weeks to complete) from Beth Moore called "Breaking Free" and what a journey it was!  I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I signed up for this study, only a desire to go deeper with God, and well, I got my wish!  It turned out to be an intense time, but oh so worth it.  This was my first Beth Moore Bible study and I just loved it.  She has a lot of personality and is so much fun to listen to.  If you're considering taking one of her Bible studies I'd like to encourage you to go for it!  You won't be sorry.  Are we ever sorry when we dive deeper with God?  Nope, He is always faithful.  He always loves us and desires more of us.

ZUMBA

A couple of weeks ago the kids and I joined the YMCA (woot-woot)!  I'm one of those annoying women who can honestly say they love working out.  But it takes a gym membership to get my booty in gear.  ;)  Needless to say it's been fantastic to be getting into a routine and re-learning the weight machines.  Today I took my first ever Zumba class and I am totally and completely hooked already!  On top of getting an insane workout, it brings back to life one of my passions - salsa dancing!  Lovin' it!  And the best part about the whole thing is that both of my little munchkins have so much fun in the daycare there.  That makes for one happy mama.  :)

Everything

Steve and I sometimes tune in to American Idol and last night we watched the mohawk sportin' dude (I think his name is Colten?) get voted off.  He sang this song from Lifehouse, one of my favorite bands, as his last song on the show and it was pretty awesome!  This song is years old, but it is somewhat new to me and I wanted to share it with you because it's a very beautiful and powerful song.

Super Simple Songs

Steve stumbled onto these songs on YouTube one night when Benjamin asked to sing one of his favorite songs, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".  I just had to share these videos from "Super Simple Songs" with you because they are so sweet and if you have small children maybe it will be something both parent and child will enjoy.  Benjamin especially likes this song, The ABC's, and Ten Little Bears, all of which he sings with too!  :)

A few random things...

I've had a lot of people tell me they're having problems making comments on the blog.  I'm so sorry about that, I know how frustrating it can be to take the time to write something out only to lose it in the end!    I've also had a hard time making comments on other blogs and it's annoying and I wish I knew what the problem was.  So don't worry about writing comments on here.  It's okay.  :)

On another note, I thought you'd like to know what Gracie's favorite thing to do these days is:

Yep, she loves to "point" to her nose, except instead of actually pointing she is jamming her finger up her nostril as far as it will go!  It's super cute really.  She also LOVES doggies and spends her days barking around the house looking for doggies (since we don't have a dog this is quote funny).

Benjamin is going on three weeks now with out his pacifier (except for when he sleeps) and he handled it like a champ!  No meltdowns or tantrums - he is a big boy.  And the reason it went over so well is because of his daddy.  Big props up to Steve, thanks babe, you are a such a great daddy!  And ever since we got that paci out of his mouth our big boy is really talking it up.  Just a few days ago he made me a very proud mama when I overheard him counting his blocks out loud and he counted 1-10 all on his own perfectly!  Seriously, this kids continues to amaze me.  I didn't even realize he knew all those numbers, let alone could count them in order.  :)   And his little voice is so sweet.

Easter Teaser

Happy Easter everyone!  We had a wonderful Easter weekend here at the Ghiringhelli's home and I hope you did with your loved ones as well.  I love celebrating this glorious holiday and with each passing year Easter, and all that it stands for (Jesus' resurrection and triumph over death), means more to me as my love for Him grows deeper and deeper.  I hope that resonates with you as well.  On top of that most precious joy, is the fun of family traditions that we are starting now as a young family!  Easter egg hunts, pretty dresses, chocolate bunnies, a nice Easter meal, etc....  It's been so much fun!  Here are only a few pictures from this past weekend.  I will post the whole album as soon as I can remember how to do that.  ;)

This One's for Grandpa Dave!

Steve captured Benjamin's deep despair in this video taken last year September after a visit from Grandpa Dave & Grammy.  Benjamin and Grandpa are two peas in a pod!  Here Benjamin's listening to a message from Grandpa on the answering machine and is clearly very sad that Grandpa had to go.  :(  Benjamin misses you Grandpa!

JJ Heller - Boat Song

Here's one of my favorite songs from JJ.  It's also one of my fave songs to sing with Steve while he plays the guitar!  :)  JJ Heller and her husband made this video on their own in their dining room and it is super cute.  I just discovered that she will be in Syracuse for a concert in a couple weeks - YAY!  I hope I can make it.  :)  Enjoy the song.

A money saving tip!

Tipnuts Homemade Laundry Detergent

Maybe you're like me and love finding easy ways to save BIG money!  Here's an idea for you of something I've been doing for ove a year now and believe me - you will save a ton of money!  I make my own laundry detergent and not only is it really easy and cheap, it works great.  If you also want to give it a try just go to the link below and you'll lots of different recipe ideas to try.  I use Recipe #4 whic his a powdered detergent.  I prefer using Ivory as my bar soap because I like the smell.  You can buy all the ingredients at Walmart for super cheap and I prefer to double the recipe so that it will last me longer.  When I double it it seems to last me around 6 months!  I've discovered along the way that buying a good quality dryer sheet (I use Snuggle) will help to give your laundry that wonderful, clean smell that we all love.  The biggest complaint about homemade laundry detergents seems to be the lack of smelling fresh and clean (even though your clothes are prefectly clean with these ingredients), so using a dryer sheet will give you that smell!  Also, I have two little kids and use this detergent on thier clothes and they have not had any issues with it as far as allergies or sensitivities go.  Let me know if you decide to try one of these recipes out.  I'm still experimenting with homemade dishwashing machine detergent, I will keep you posted!

Another old video...

This video is from a year ago during Easter when we took a trip to Fort Mill, SC to visit Steve's side of the family.  Benjamin loves dog's and here he's playing with Grandma Ecie's dog, Zoe!

Back to blogging!

After a 7 month break from writing in my blog I've decided to get back at it.  Most of you probably already know this because of my recent post on Facebook...  Yep, I've taken the plunge and have decided to "get back to the basics" if you will.  You probably already know that I like a simple life, one with less distractions and more quality attention.  You may think I've gone off the deep end by signing off from Facebook all together, but let's not forget this is probably the only girl you know who doesn't have a cell phone!  Not to say that one day down the road I'll get myself a cell phone (maybe even a smart phone) or that I'll decide to start a new account on Facebook even, but for now I need to take a break from that world.

If you're wondering why, there are actually many reasons, but the big kahuna is this: instead of adding to my life it's taking away from it.  It's my fault too.  I just don't seem to have the discipline to not waste so much time on it!  I wish I was one of those people who only went on Facebook once a day or even a week, but for me Facebook is such a pull in my life and I feel like it's robbing me of our most precious commodity - time.  I tend to be an "all or nothing" type of person about certain things in life, so perhaps that's part of the problem for me!  There are a million positive things that I love about Facebook, which is why I could definitely see that down the road when I'm in a different season of my life, I will get back to Facebooking.  For now however, I'm looking forward to withdrawing from the social network bug and going back to how life was 5 years ago!  :)  LOL!

For me the best part about Facebook was staying connected to my precious family and friends and posting pictures of my kiddos for you all to enjoy.  Which is exactly why I'm starting to blog again!  I can spend a lot less time keeping you posted on my life, plus post pictures and videos of the kids with this blog than I would if I stayed on Facebook.  I plan to post something here only once or twice a week, so I hope you keep it on your radar and check in every so often.

Old Videos of the Kiddos

For the past year or so I haven't been able to post videos of the kids on Facebook for some reason, which was really aggravating for me!  I've just been dying to share some of the kids big milestone's with you or just some of thier silliness and cuteness.  Thankfully, I can post videos here though.  :)   Here's an old one of me trying to get Gracie's first steps on video.  Enjoy!

Books, books, and more books!

I've been enjoying quite a few really good books recently and thought I'd share some of them with you.  I highly recommend reading, "Heaven is For Real".  It's an easy read and one you won't want to put down once you get past the first few chapters.  What an incredible, real-life story of a little boy's experience in heaven during a near death encounter.  This book brings hope.  It made me more excited for my heavenly future and brought a more eternal mindset to my thinking than I had before I read it.  It really was a sweet and refreshing book to read!

In contrast, I'm currently reading Stephan Manfield's book, "Where Has Oprah Taken Us?", which has been a much deeper, more thought provoking, intellectual read.  I am very much enjoying it and the perspective the author has given so far.  I believe this book would be interesting to any Christian Oprah fan (as I am one).  Perhaps you were like me and had to stop watching the Oprah Show for a few years because her new found "spiritaulity", which became the main topic of many of her shows, were absolutely driving you nuts!  Well, this book explores her life and how her beliefs have evolved over the course of her life so far.  I am only in the middle of this book at the moment, so I don't have much more to say about it, but I am finding it very interesting.  I'd love to hear your opinions on either of these books.  If you have read them tell me your thoughts!  :)

I'm dying to dive into a good novel these days as well.  Perhaps I will join all the hype about "The Hunger Games" trilogy!  I've heard from numerous people how much they have loved these books - moms, my tween niece, and even a few ladies from the "older" generations.  I'll keep you posted about it.  I would love to read the books before I see the movie.  It's always better that way!  ;)

The Hunger Games

Some more oldies, but goodies!

I may have been able to post these back on FB awhile ago (before I had problems with video), but they are so darn cute that I'm sure you wouldn't mind watching them again if you've already seen them!  ;)
